TBD:
- Tutorial on how to publicly share OneDrive, Google Drive, and DropBox files for use with Reccy Referrals
- Tutorial on how to use QR code scanning to add contacts
- Tutorial on how to add images sent via text (since vCard doesn’t import them automatically)
Slide1:
Install the application. You will need to authorize the application to read and write to your local contacts. Your devices local contacts is the reference point and storage for Reccy. This is a Good thing since any new or updated Reccy contacts you create will be updated on your phone and backed up as part of your Apple cloud storage backup regimen. Subsequently any contacts currently in your phone can be added to Reccy. I’m getting a bit ahead, but it will make more sense as we move along!
Slide2:
Select your contact from the address book. If this is your first time installing Reccy you will need to select your contact and flesh out all the fields. If you are only testing Reccy at this time you can leave the field with basic information, but we do recommend a name, cell phone number, and email address as a minimum. We would also encourage you to go ahead and select a picture of yourself or you can take one using your phone’s camera. Some people may simply want to upload a company logo, but we do encourage a headshot as this is YOUR referral card that will be used to share with others and others will in turn share it with even more people. If not now, be sure you eventually put some time and thought into your referral card!
Slide3:
Now let’s link some existing contacts on your phone. By “linking” you are simply telling Reccy what contacts in your current address book you want visible in Reccy. Don’t worry if your contacts are not as fleshed out with pictures as what is depicted. You can click on multiple contacts to import all at once so don’t be shy and get all those great referral sources into your phone now! As you connect with your colleagues and tell them about Reccy they will of course install Reccy and begin updating their Reccy profiles and fleshing them out. When that happens they only need to send you a Reccy referral via text or email and you can quickly update their contact with their fully populated details. There are multiple ways to get your referral sources into Reccy that I will cover later so stay with me!
Slide4:
Ok, time to turn on your free 30-day trial. Don’t worry, Reccy maintains an extensive feature list even when your trial expires. Click the “Upgrade” link at the top of the page and you will be presented with the ability to start your free trial, renew your license, or go ahead and buy the application simply because you know its awesome from all the people telling you how awesome it is! You may be presented with your Apple ID login and a “Buy” button. Keep in mind that you are not currently buying anything. This is simply the Apple process to allow an application trial unless of course you are buying it in which case the buy button will take you through the purchase process.
Slide5:
By now you should have your devices contacts linked to Reccy. This is a good time to send a test referral so you can see how things work. Click on your contact circle in the top left of the phone. Click all the radio dials next to the referral content you wish to send. Don’t worry if you don’t have these items fleshed out yet. We are only doing a test so you can see how Reccy works. When done click “send” but don’t worry you aren’t sending just yet. You still need to tell Reccy who you are sending to and how.
Slide6:
Since Reccy is your go-to for all things business referral related you will likely already the person you are referring to in your phone’s contacts. You can simply click the “contacts” button and choose the person you wish to send your referral to. For this test we recommend someone close by that can show you how things look, but you can always send it t yourself as well. Sending yourself a text or email referral may be weird, but it works and gives you a great way to test Reccy out. Reccy utilizes your phone’s integrated texting and email applications to function which means that none of your data is sent to Reccy or any third-party providers. Only those you choose to send to will receive your data. We prefer texting as it’s a better way for your users to quickly receive your referral and add you to their address book. Email is viable, but Reccy lives on mobile devices so sending a text is your best chance to get permanently listed in the other person’s Reccy app and local contacts! When you have the information filled out click “Text” or “Email”.
Slide7:
Reccy will copy the selected fields to your default email application or your texting client. All that remains is to review the content and manually modify if you see fit then click send.
Slide8:
The person you just sent the referral will receive your email or text. If sending via text it will look similar to the below image. But what if you send your referral to someone who doesn’t have an iPhone or the Reccy app installed? Nothing really changes. The person still receives your referral and all the supporting information. They can still import your contact information in the form of a vcard directly into their phone for quick reference.
Slide9:
Now that you have seen how Reccy works and understand the features and speed at which you can send detailed referrals its time to flesh out your profile. Click your circle icon on the top left of Reccy and edit your profile. Fill out every selection the best you can. The sections for LinkedIn you can simply copy the URL to your LinkedIn profile and past it into the URL box. Linking to flyers or face sheets can be done in several ways. If you are an individual without a corporate marketing department you can use DropBox, Google Drive, or OneDrive to store and publicly share your marketing documents. If you don’t know how to do this feel free to send an email to support@reccy.me and we will help you get going. On the other hand, if you work for a large enterprise with a robust marketing department we encourage you to reach out to them so that they can build, update, and maintain your referral marketing materials for you. This way your content is always pertinent, updated, and accurate.
